Encore un livre sur les stones mais axé sur la période Brian Jones, je recommande pour la beauté plastique des photos noir et blancs
For many, this was the finest incarnation of the Rolling Stones. The book captures the image of the Stones as they were evolving and the excitement around them. Most of the photographs are candid, so they are often grainy and slightly out of focus. Do not worry, this enhances their impact, as we are often given that 'you are right here with them' feeling. The candid quality also helps reveal the Stones who are so much more than the surly, unkempt, rude image that has persisted. These are intelligent, sophisticated young men, though at times they look impossibly young and innocent. It is a joyous celebration, except for the photo of Keith unconscious on stage having been electrocuted. Many of the photographs are new to me and even ones you may have elsewhere benefit from the book's large format. Any Stones fan will love this and it is essential for any fan who loves the Jones era. You will not be disappointed
I've already spent many hours completely absorbed in this book, and haven't even gotten through it completely once. Sent a copy to my best friend from highschool too. We were huge Stones fans (devotees, more like) when we were 17, and now we are 63, and the pleasure is just as intense.Some things you never lose, thank heavens. Wonderful photographs.
I learned about this book while visiting London. I was checking out a photography website and saw an ad offering a "special price." I checked Amazon to see if they could beat the $50 "special." Wow could they ever! If you're a fan of the Stones, 60's rock and roll, or photography, this is the book for you. It's large, the photos are excellent, and the nook is well printed on thick quality paper. It was an absolute steal at $7.
Anything on the early Rolling Stones I will probably purchase for my collection! These photos (some of which I have never seen and that is saying a lot!) are accompanied by stories from Terry O'Neill. He brings you right into the picture! I absolutely love this book!!!
